WOW Kitchens

LOVE this light backspash and the pops of color!!!! Modern kitchens usually have a monochromatic color scheme with a subtle yet bold pop of color. Designer Andreea Avram Rusu incorporated warm orange tones through the island stools and a stainless steel backs. Although, I am not much a fan of orange, Andreea made this design work well.
A monochromatic color scheme and stainless steel appliances are fundamentals in a modern kitchen. Designer Philip Guarino placed the kitchen island on legs to create a floating effect, which gives the space an airy, open feel.
LOVE the interest of the accent stone and wood!!!
A stone wall, glass tabletop and wood ceiling light fixture bring various textures to this kitchen designed by Elizabeth Rosensteel. The monochromatic gray tones in the countertops, cabinets, stools and backsplash bring a modern touch to the space.
Moving from one workstation to the other is simple in this bold kitchen. A thin ladder makes the glossy blue upper cabinets easily accessible. Design by Philip Guarino
Not a total fan of this, feels a little cold to me, I do love the island stove and overhead lightng design.
The high-end appliances in this kitchen make it any cook's dream. The blue under-cabinet lighting allows the tile backsplash to shine, and the neutral tones in the kitchen create a striking contrast against the dark-toned cabinets. Design by Vanessa DeLeon
LOVE the contemporary style, still feels warm and inviting!!! Dark wood base cabinets are paired with metal-and-glass upper cabinets in this kitchen to create a transition from heavy to light. A white 2x2-inch glass-tile backsplash is illuminated to offset the larger squares of the upper cabinets, adding another layer of rhythm and scale to the space.

Traditional Living

Sheer drapes and a silk chaise work well in this space together. Tip: Look for a uniquely designed lamp, which can add character and style to a room.
Dramatic art provides life in this space with its bold colors. Modern furniture and classically designed draperies work well together.
This home theater has an art deco look fused with a modern touch. Luxurious silk upholstered sofas and chairs against velvet upholstered acoustical wall panels combine well with a unique deco patterned wool rug. Tip: Add wall sconces to give surround lighting that can be dimmed for viewing the movie.
This is totally my favorite, the room is conversational, comfortable and cozy!!
In this modern living room, furnishings alternately blend and contrast with the darker flooring, and rugs are purposefully unembellished to ensure maximum attention to the cosmopolitan furnishings and rich, textured fabrics. Walls are blank slates to serve as backdrops for bold artwork, which is highlighted with gallery lighting. Another favorite design of mine, they didn't forget to warm things up with plants.
If you follow my design style and blog you know black is a basic for me and I love this arrangment and the accent pillows.
The family room incorporates traditionally styled furnishings with slightly modern lines for an updated look. The mirror treatment on the wall mimics the design of the ceiling and cleverly hides the flat screen.
You get a warm and comfy feel with this room.
Cool blues and retro styles create a chic retreat in this small living space. The few accessories were selected with care. Designer tip: Modern interiors rely on clean lines and statement pieces to achieve the look.

Bronze high polished Couture Chairs 2011
What a statement!!!!!!!!!! These are designs by James Vilona. Through his sculpture career he explored the artistic elements of contrasts and similarities between form and function. His passion lies in creating communication and dialogue with each piece sculpted, he loves blending contemporary, organic, and abstract shapes into art that will have direct communication through contact.
James enjoys creating tension, using materials in their raw form as a catalyst to create both positive and negative spaces. With complete respect for the metal, he naturally builds layers, problem solving both weight and weightlessness through contrasting elements and movement in his work. His current focus is an exploration using iron and steel, studying natural organic shapes and transforming them into sculptural forms with dynamic tension and release.
James goal is in finding that one moment where the work itself allows many levels of exploration and discovery, and is a visual communication between himself and each viewer.

In February I introduced you to, "Great Things", and the owner. As I mentioned in that article, it is always changing with new items arriving daily. While on a shopping trip I visited the shop to find it with a beautiful uplift arranged in an array of colors, each vignette seems to display one treasure after another and how clever to arrange it in the colors you are looking for, from clothing to furniture and home goods items. Their talents for designing also shows with a flair and manner appealing to..." what women want"... beautiful clothing and home decor items!!!! Not to mention the fantastic prices and quality!!! How fun is this, shopping for a great pair of shoes and to your surprise you find a great piece of art or chandelier!!!!
At Great Things Showplace you will find quality pre-owned furniture/home décor and beautiful designer clothing and accessories. Many items never or barely used. Best of all, nearly 98% of all items brought into the store sell, and quickly. Everyday new items arrive.” It always changes, which is why you need to shop regularly, so you don't miss a "Great Thing".

Islands

This island is located adjacent to where meals are prepared and can be utilized for dining, for homework, as a buffet or for additional workspace. Design by Don Raney and Jaymes Richardson.
Think outside of the box when deciding on the shape of an island. This custom six-sided island is ideal for a contemporary rectangular kitchen. Design by Troy Adams. Although, I don't agree with the island choice, I like
the shape and style. I would have chosen a top with blues, tans and the wood color to tie the room together more softly.
Pull a chair up to this weighty island or take a seat at the table with a view. Both are painted black and provide a striking contrast to the rest of the cabinetry. Design by Beth Haley.
This island houses both a cooktop and a prep sink as well as ample storage in the form of drawers and open shelves. When space allows, always try to add a ledge and seating around an island. It appears this kitchen may have not had the extra room to do this.
LOVE THIS!!!
Don't feel penned in by having to choose one material for your island's surface; this design incorporates both tile and butcher block. Design by Didier Michot.
The colors blend well in this design.
This proportionately sized island is painted in the kitchen's soft green accent color for a lovely, finished look with plenty of function. Design by Jean Alan. Photo by Patty Carroll.

First Impressions/Entry Ways

You know what they say about first impressions. Since the entryway is what your guests' will see right away — make sure the furniture, paint color, and seating that you choose send the right message.
Designer Betsy Burnham used a bone sunburst mirror from Blackman Cruz, a Murano dresser from Mecox Gardens, and an upholstered chair covered in Tashkent silk.
France meets California in this foyer designed by Stephen Shubel: A Louis XVI-style chair sits next to a petrified tree trunk. Horse photo by Susan Friedman.
Cathy Kincaid's clients already owned the heraldic crest. The bench is upholstered in Dashwood and the two polka-dot pillows are in Brown Mu, both from Madeline Weinrib.
"The floor in this entrance hall was black and lifeless. It needed a shot in the arm. I had it painted to look like marquetry, which is elegant without being too fancy," says designer Ashley Whittaker.
